						Aboriginal Art: Melville & Bathurst Islands and Darwin The Tiwi Islands (Melville and Bathurst) are located in Australia's Northern Territory 80 km north of Darwin in the Arafura Sea. The islands are inhabited by the Tiwi as they have been since before European settlement in Australia. Darwin is the territorial capital and most populous city of Australia's Northern Territory with a population of 109,478.
